Meet Thomas
Tom Maffey is a Senior Advisor at McChrystal Group, where he provides his expertise on engagements and advises senior executives on transformational change. Joining McChrystal Group as a Partner in 2013, Tom is the architect of many of the firm’s consulting services and the firm’s subject matter expert on implementing more effective strategic planning and communications processes.
What did you do before joining McChrystal Group?
I spent over four years as President of the Latin America Region for Brinks Inc., an armored car and secure logistics company. I was responsible for all business functions in 10 Latin American countries, with over 35,000 employees in more than 300 locations. I also led the post-acquisition integration of the world’s largest independent armored car company into Brinks.
In 2008 I retired from the US Army at the rank of Brigadier General after a successful 30-year career in some of the military’s highest performing organizations, including the 75th Ranger Regiment and the Joint Special Operations Command.

McChrystal Group provides me the opportunity to apply my private sector and military experience to improve organizational performance.
What has been your proudest moment at McChrystal Group?
Leading a four-person team on a technology client for 10 months, and seeing how the changes we were able to help the client’s leadership team implement enabled them to vastly improve performance over the last six years.

My passion has always been about accomplishing something meaningful, with people you like to be around - McChrystal Group provides that opportunity every day.
