Meet Caitlin

Caitlin Conaty is a Principal on McChrystal Group’s Implementation Team, working alongside clients to strengthen leadership, improve organizational performance, and turn strategy into action. She builds trusted partnerships, learns how each organization operates, and helps develop practical, tailored approaches that align teams and enable sustained impact.

What did you do before joining McChrystal Group?

Before joining McChrystal Group, I spent nearly two decades translating strategy into execution across the Department of Defense, State Department, and interagency. My roles included advising a four-star commander at U.S. Special Operations Command, leading the Commander’s Action Group at Joint Special Operations Command, and shaping Special Operations policy at the Pentagon. Earlier, I spent more than a decade with the State Department, leading conflict and stabilization teams in Nigeria and East Africa, and managing a 21-person office supporting 14 countries.

What SPORT OR HOBBY DO YOU HAVE OUTSIDE OF WORK?

I love to run, hike, read, travel, and work on jigsaw puzzles. 

What ARE YOUR FAVORITE BOOKS?

My favorite books include Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln by Doris Kearns Goodwin, Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy, An Immense World by Ed Yong, anything by Tana French, and a recent addition -- Theo of Golden by Allen Levi.
