William Jones serves as Chief of Staff to the CEO at McChrystal Group, supporting General Stan McChrystal in driving alignment and effectiveness across the firm. He manages the executive office’s operating rhythm, including complex scheduling and coordination, and serves as a primary point of contact between senior leadership, internal teams, and external stakeholders. His work ensures the executive office operates with clarity, efficiency, and disciplined execution.
What did you do before joining McChrystal Group?
I began my career in public media, holding newsroom leadewrship roles at PBS and NPR for a decade. Following that, I had the opportunity to serve as a consultant to UNICEF before working for Major League Soccer team New York City FC as their director of communications.
Why did you join McChrystal Group?
I had followed General McChrystal's work throughout my time working in public media. The opportunity to work alongside him as part of an organization that partners with an array of interesting organizations and companies was exciting to me.
What has been your proudest moment at McChrystal Group?
I've been particularly proud of building strong ties with staff members across McChrystal Group to ensure they're best served and effectively supported by the company's executive office.
Why are you passionate about leaders & teams?
Working in newsrooms made me realize the need to operate effectively and efficiently as a team when faced with challenging situations and an incredibly fast paced environment. That served to increase my interest in leadership and teams.
