Meet Rory
Rory Langan is a Senior Associate on our Implementation team, supporting clients with strategy development, major project execution, and supporting C-suite leaders through periods of crisis or transition. Originally joining as part of the London office, he moved to our headquarters in Alexandria in 2022, and his work has involved clients across pharmaceuticals, big tech, e-commerce, engineering, and mining firms.
What did you do before joining McChrystal Group?
Prior to joining McChrystal Group, I worked for Swire Pacific, a British/Hong Kong commercial conglomerate where I was seconded to Cathay Pacific Airways in a Sales and Marketing role responsible for global strategy development and rollout. I also supported senior leaders there with crisis management communication and operations during the Hong Kong protests and the COVID-19 outbreak. My prior work experience included internships in commercial marketing roles and risk advisory and analysis for private intelligence firms in London.
Why did you join McChrystal Group?
I wanted to join a team that values working to deliver tangible impact to a diverse set of clients at pace, encourages innovative approaches to complex client sets, and empowers its people to get visibility and experience from day 1 at every level.
What has been your proudest moment at McChrystal Group?
Working with a major railway firm to drive and deliver tangible safety improvements after a major accident and seeing that become a core part of their operating philosophy.
What sport or hobby do you have outside of work?
Hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter, if I'm in the mountains I'm happy.
What are your favorite books (besides Team of Teams!)?
Hans Fallada's Alone in Berlin, Ferdinand Ossendowski's Beasts, Men, and Gods, and anything by Georges Simenon.
