Meet Rory

Rory Langan is a Senior Associate on our Implementation team supporting clients to refine and align their strategy, improve cross-team collaboration, and deal with rapid shifts in their market or operating environment.

What did you do before joining McChrystal Group?

Before joining McChrystal Group, I worked for Swire Group, a Hong Kong-based British diversified conglomerate on their graduate fast track management trainee scheme. During my time at Swire, I was posted to their aviation division in marketing and sales roles based in both Hong Kong and India. While at university, I worked as a research associate for a leading British political scientist specialising in Russian and Post-Soviet security studies as well as interning at a London-based global marketing and communications firm.

Why did you join McChrystal Group?

I joined McChrystal Group to have the chance to solve problems for a range of clients facing varied and fast-moving challenges alongside a team that has a unique range of backgrounds and experiences.

What has been your proudest moment at McChrystal Group?

My proudest moment has been supporting a client in the aftermath of a forcible nationalisation of their operations by a foreign government, helping them and their team recover from the incident while designing and refining a strategy to move them back onto a track towards growth.

What sport or hobby do you have outside of work?

In my spare time I enjoy football, rugby, skiing, and hiking wherever and whenever I get the chance, as well as long-distance travel in the Caucasus and Central Asia.

What is a hidden talent of yours?

I grew up abroad and have always enjoyed learning languages, and can speak French, Mandarin Chinese, Russian, and (very rusty) Italian and Spanish.
