Meet Amy
Dr. Amy Athey is a Senior Advisor at McChrystal Group, bringing more than two decades of expertise in performance psychology, leadership development, and organizational wellness. A licensed clinical and performance psychologist, Dr. Athey is recognized nationally for designing innovative mental health and resilience programs that enable individuals and teams to thrive under pressure.
Throughout her career, Dr. Athey has partnered with NCAA champions, Olympians, professional athletes, C-suite executives, and U.S. Special Forces to optimize performance and build adaptive leadership capabilities. As Chief Wellness Officer at the University of Arizona, she led the development and deployment of a campus-wide peer psychological first aid program during the COVID-19 pandemic and scaled systemic wellness services across the institution. Previously, she served as sport psychology consultant for the University of Oregon’s 2012 Rose Bowl Championship Football Team and contributed to the Human Performance Team for the U.S. Naval Special Warfare Development Group.
A thought leader in her field, Dr. Athey has authored more than 130 publications and presentations on high performance, team effectiveness, and wellness solutions. She is a Fellow of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology, recognized for her impact in advancing performance and resilience strategies at scale.
